What makes creating a genuine bond with my teenager seem nearly impossible?
Why do even the most casual talks with my teenager always spiral into conflict?

Being a parent to a teenager can feel like navigating a minefield—one moment things are fine, the next you’re caught in yet another argument. If you’ve ever wondered, “Why is it so hard to connect with my teenager?” you’re not alone.

In the Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go workshop, you’ll reflect on your own adolescent experiences to gain insight and perspective into your teenager’s emotional world. You’ll learn to regulate your responses, so conflict doesn’t spiral. Through guided conversations and interactive exercises, both parents and teenagers get the opportunity to hear and be heard—without the usual tension.

In this dynamic 1 ½ day workshop, you and your teen will:

  • Learn to recognize and manage reactive emotions so you can communicate calmly.
  • Understand how your teen’s developing brain affects their reasoning and emotions.
  • Work together to build a foundation of mutual respect and emotional safety.
  • Build communication skills that repair misunderstandings and strengthen your bond.

“Since the divorce, I have tried to laugh and make things fun. But I am not doing anything emotionally with my teenagers. If I’m honest, I’m just trying to make myself feel better. I just want to be able to connect with my kids.”

Parent Participant

By the end of this journey, both parents and teenagers will feel heard, respected, and supported. You’ll work through challenges together and create a relationship that feels safe and supportive—not just in the moment, but for years to come.
